Samma dropped Mark (Bling) Wolinsky, Jerry  Patton, and me at the parking lot for Springer Mountain around 9 AM.  She and Alii joined us in the 1 mile hike to the top of Springer and the start of the trail.

After much photo taking we headed back down to the parking lot to continue the journey.

Jerry ran off and left Bling and I with the intent to pan for gold in the stream crossings.   We met up with Jerry at the first big stream and he was happily panning for gold and earned the trail name Prospector.  We chatted and he was going to catch up with us at 3 forks for lunch.

Mark & I made it to 3 forks and relaxed. ate, and waited for Prospector, and waited, and waited.  Then it started pouring rain, and I grew concerned for him.  I left Bling sitting at 3 forks guarding our packs and started up the trail looking for Prospector.  I found him high and dry at Stover Creek Shelter, and he said he tried to txt us to go on and he’d catch up (didn’t want to get caught in the rain).

Once we were all together again and started on our way to Hawk Shelter, there was no more drama.  We arrived at the shelter around 7PM and enjoyed talking with Urban Camper, Old Guy, BA Firewalker & AD Firewalker.
